Oct 29 - How to Unravel Mythology as Metaphor
Richard Schwab

"The best things in life can't be told" is an applicable quote to any who have gotten a glazed look after an explanation of a peak experience. In the past these difficult to grasp ideas were only referred to metaphorically. These metaphors eventually grew into stories, legends, religions and now, mythologies.  In this talk we'll take a look at the mythological idea through the lens of metaphor. Then, by interpreting the relationships represented to discover where they apply we should shed some light on both myths old and new.

Rich Schwab is the current head of the Seattle Mythological/Joseph Campbell Roundtable and runs MonoMyth.org, a website devoted to displaying mythological themes and ideas through the interpretation of movies as our current mythologies.
