Three Near Death Experiences
Robert Penhaligon

In 1961 Robert, age 11, fell off a neighbor’s swing. He left his body and experienced merging with the earth and the past history of the area, including nearby Civil War struggles. In 1974 he was hit by a car, he visited places he was told we all come to in our “sleep, but are not permitted to consciously remember.” In 1987 he was attacked by energies connected with a sacred object stolen from a Native American tribe. He was drawn out of his body and faced by beings he calls the Dark Great Grandmother and Grandfather. Temptations were powerfully offered to him, if only he would work with them.

Join us as Robert shares what he has learned from all of this, and what we can learn as well!

C.G. Jung's Red Book  (Liber Novus)
An Epochal Work, Linking Religion, Esotericism and Science

Dr. Stephan A. Hoeller

After over 80 years of concealment, in October 2009 there appeared a book that created huge excitement in our culture. The original, calligraphed work was exhibited for many months in New York, Los Angeles and Washington D.C. and the published volume achieved unprecedented sales. This inspired, visionary work is the acknowledged source of Jung's psychology and contains prophetic, esoteric material pertaining to the entire culture. Dr. Hoeller delivered a series of 14 lectures on this work. His lectures received great Internet attention and are acknowledged as the best exegesis of the Red Book at this time. In this one day seminar he will present an overview of the Red Book and its esoteric and greater cultural context.

Pre-registration reserves you a seat; but our room holds only 50, so reservations will be held only until 10:15am. Walk-ins will then be seated in any unfilled seats, in order of arrival. Call the Quest Bookshop, 206 323-4281 to give us the name of each person attending.

Dr. Stephan A. Hoeller is author of the pioneering book “The Gnostic Jung and the Seven Sermons to the Dead” and its sequel, “Jung and the Lost Gospels” as well as other works of a related nature.

The Cosmos and the Laws of Life, from the Writings of Henry T. Laurency
Stanton Stevens

Each of us learns about reality through our senses. We are also given "facts" about reality by those who have gone ahead of us. This information can be very useful: what starts as an hypothesis becomes understanding through experiment and experience. Hylozoics, as presented by Henry T. Laurency, is a mental system of these facts, and Theosophy is the first modern teaching to present these fundamental statements. This talk is about how Laurency expands and adds to Theosophy's presentation in his description of the Cosmos and the Laws of Life.

Stanton Stevens has spoken before on esoteric philosophy as presented by Henry Laurency. He leads two Rainbow Bridge meditation groups, in Seattle and Port Townsend, and is a software engineer.

The White Robed Teachers of Tibet
Len Hilgermann

From the beginning of Tibetan Buddhism, there have always been two paths of religious training leading to ordination:  the red-robed monastic path and the white-robed yogic path.  Each group trained differently and had  different functions in Tibetan religious life and society.  The Chinese invasion of Tibet and resulting diaspora made it difficult in Tibet to train the white-robed teachers (who were both men and women).  Since these teachers train and serve in ways well-suited to Western societies, programs started appearing in the West for students who choose the yogic path to service and enlightenment.

Len Hilgermann (Ngakpa Sönam Yeshe) is an ordained, white-robed Tibetan Buddhist teacher.  His main spiritual focuses are on practices relating to pain management and to the transition at death from one life to another.

What Did I Do to Deserve THIS ???
Ed Alden

The Law of Karma is a central tenet of the Ancient Wisdom, and the most difficult to accept emotionally. Often it is portrayed as a "reward and punishment" system. But that portrayal misrepresents and diminishes this cosmically fundamental mechanism. This talk will set this "terrible law" in its larger context as the very engine of our growth and evolution.

Ed Alden is a long time Theosophist and member of the Seattle Lodge.

The Four Blessings represent a very simple spiritual practice designed to enhance our awareness and attunement in the moment as well as performing an act of "energy hygiene." In this talk, David will examine the philosophy behind these four blessings and offer some specific exercises for putting them into practice in our daily lives.

Karma, Dharma and Astrology
Mark Ray

The Ancient Wisdom teaches that we have karma, based on our past actions, which will result in experiences which can be pleasant or difficult. We also have a dharma (or duty) to follow to fulfill our life goals. Astrology has many insights into both karma and dharma. An individual’s horoscope is the place to begin understanding how astrology can help to show one’s karma and dharma, and how the ever changing movement of the planets correspond with the unfolding of our destiny. How we react to these influences is up to us and our free will.

Mark Ray is a Board Member of the Theosophical Society in Seattle and has studied astrology for over 40 years.

Devotion and Surrender in Theosophical Life
Andrew Barke
r

The world’s great religions advocate devotion to God as a spiritual pathway: “Surrender yourself humbly, then you can be trusted to care for all things” – Tao Te Ching. But HP Blavatsky says, “Thou art THYSELF the object of thy search”. Is she disagreeing with the great sages? Can Theosophy and the path of surrender to the Divine be reconciled?

Andrew Barker both practices the path of devotion and has been a member of the Theosophical Society for many years.
